🎥 CATCHING UP WITH AN OLD FRIEND
Former ODU baseball standout and current Cincinnati Reds catcher P.J. Higgins joins Monarchs+ to discuss his return to the Major Leagues, the journey of working his way back after several years in Triple-A, and the transition from infielder to catcher at the professional level.
Higgins also reflects on his time at Old Dominion, the brotherhood of the Monarchs' NCAA Tournament teams, and what it means to see so many former teammates reach the big leagues.

🔼 Setting The Slate. Don’t put away those fall calendars just yet, we’ve got even more dates to plug in now.
This week, the ODU soccer programs unveiled their full 2026 schedules for the upcoming seasons.
🔼 Growing Fam. Two more newcomers were announced for the ODU men’s hoops squad with the signings of JUCO All-American guard Khoi Thurmon and defensive menace Jotham Nweke.
Thurmon spent the 2025-26 season as a member of the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, seeing action in all 32 games. He finished his junior season with 81 points (2.5 ppg), 26 rebounds (0.8 rpg), 43 assists, two blocks, and 22 steals. Previously, he was a JUCO All-American at Panola College in 2024-25.
Nweke played this past season at Division II Wayne State, where he started 26 games in 27 appearances for the Warriors. He was voted to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Defensive Team after tying for sixth place in steals (1.5 spg), tying for 10th in blocked shots (0.9 bpg), 11th in rebounding (6.2 rpg), and 14th in defensive rebounds (3.9 rpg) in league play.

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of ODU Football this fall. The Monarchs will host
Norfolk State on September 5 at 6 p.m.

There’s no better testament to hard work and dedication than Elijah Hokin, who donned the #78 jersey for the past five seasons.
Graduating this past May with a degree in criminal justice, the Culpeper, Va., native was named to he National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society this past season.
Hoskin spent his entire five-year career at Old Dominion, beginning his career as a walk-on before earning a scholarship as a redshirt sophomore. He played in 31 career games, making four starts at guard.
