🔼 A Look Ahead. There’s a lot of excitement and energy heading into another season of App State football.

This week, sixth-year head coach Ricky Rahne, senior OL Zach Barley and senior DL Kris Trindad all jumped behind the mics at Sun Belt Media Days to preview the upcoming season for the Monarchs.

🔼 Path To The Pros. Earlier this month, three ODU baseball standouts moved on to their pro careers by their selection in the 2025 MLB Draft.

That path to the pros continued for the Monarchs this week when Kyle Edwards signed on to join the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League.

A shortstop from Virginia Beach, Virginia, Edwards finished second in the Sun Belt Conference in stolen bases (26) and third in stolen bases per game (0.49) this past season. He was named Mr. Monarch in 2025 at this year’s Golden Monarch Awards and served as SAAC President.

Finishing his ODU career with a .268 batting average, he led the team with a .341 clip in 2023. He also had 16 home runs, 41 doubles, 92 RBIs, and 61 stolen bases.

🔼 Fresh Face. There will be plenty of new faces for the Monarchs this winter when the ODU men’s hoops squad hits the court.

This week, we meet one of those fresh faces in transfer guard Drew McKenna, who arrives in Norfolk after two seasons at Georgetown.

🔼 Academic Aces. On the court, it was a historic season last fall for the ODU volleyball program.

That success wasn’t limited to just the court, but also the classroom.

This week, ODU was announced as a recipient of the 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award for the sixth straight year.

To be eligible for the award, a program must maintain a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale). As a team, the Monarchs combined to earn a 3.56 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year.

A little Flashback Friday for y’all to end the week.

The original Foreman Field was built in 193️⃣6️⃣ and stood the test of time hosting plenty of events over the decades before being the home of ODU football for the first 10 seasons before the S.B. Stadium was established in 2019.
