Good Morning, ODU Fam. Season will be here before we know it, but first, the Monarchs jumped in front of the camera for media day action!

What all do we have stirring in today’s Brew? Check it out below!

Star Among Stars

🦁 And much more!

🎥 CALIFORNIA LOVE

Last month, ODU Head Coach DeLisha Milton-Jones and assistant coach Ronald Jones, Jr. traveled to Los Angeles to be a part of a truly special weekend in Tinseltown.

Milton-Jones was a part of the LA Sparks’ 30th Anniversary celebration and the duo sat down to talk about the trip, the celebration and reflected back on their time together.

🔼 Star Among Stars. Los Angeles is known for its star sightings with celebrities around every corner.

Tomorrow night, ODU Head Coach DeLisha Milton-Jones takes her rightful place among those stars as she will have her jersey retired by the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Sparks will honor her during a halftime ceremony during tomorrow night’s game with the New York Liberty at Cypto.com Arena.

One of the most accomplished players in franchise history, Milton-Jones played a pivotal role in the Sparks’ success, helping the team secure its first two championships, back-to-back sweeps in 2001 and 2002. The forward averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game during the 2001 WNBA Finals, while shooting 72.2% from the field.

🔼 Seeing Silver. Before even putting on an ODU uniform, Ashlyn Gent is already collecting hardware.

The incoming freshman for the Monarch volleyball program is one of eight newcomers and has trained for multiple years with Canada’s National Excellence program.

Earlier this summer, Gent helped her home country capture its first-ever medal at the NORCECA U21 Pan-American Cup, bringing home silver from the event.

🔼 It’s Been A While. The two programs have played each other 97 times over the years, but they haven’t been on the same floor since 2021.

That changes this year as the ODU men’s hoops squad will play host to old foe, VCU, for an exhibition game this October 17th at Chartway Arena.

The Monarchs will travel to Richmond for an exhibition game against the Rams next season.

🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 4️⃣0️⃣ DAYS TIL KICKOFF

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of ODU Football this fall. The Monarchs will host
Norfolk State on September 5 at 6 p.m.

Rising sophomore Hunter Malecki quickly dove into his collegiate career, earning playing time in all 13 games during his true freshman campaign last fall with the Monarchs.

Malecki racked up 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2025 and this fall will be make even more of an impact as a sophomore.

The Lorton, Va., native who will be wearing #4️⃣0️⃣ again, was an All-Region and All-Metro performer at South County High School.
