⏱️ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 3️⃣3️⃣ DAYS

In honor of the 33 days until ODU football season….

An up-and-coming star will be back in #3️⃣3️⃣ this season for the Monarchs as sophomore safety Daevon Iles is ready to make an impact this fall for ODU.

Last year, in his true freshman season, Iles played in 11 games, mostly on special teams, but also gaining snaps at the safety position for the Monarch defense. He finished the year with 14 tackles, 1.5 TFLs and two pass break-ups.

🔼 Howdy, Partner. Sometimes, it’s fun to reunite with some old friends.

However, this reunion will be on the court as ODU men’s basketball head coach Mike Jones announced a three-game series with George Mason over the next three seasons.

The Monarchs will play at George Mason on Sunday, December 13 this season. ODU will make the trip to Fairfax, Virginia again in 2026 and will then host the Patriots in 2027.

Former members of the CAA, the two programs have previously met 60 times between 1978 and 2022. The Monarchs are ahead in the all-time series, 38-22 and have won four of the last five meetings with the Patriots.

🔼 Breaking Through. It’s been anything but a normal season for ODU legend, Justin Verlander.

Battling injuries, tough luck and everything in between, Verlander broke through for his first victory of the season for the San Francisco Giants last week, tossing five scoreless innings in a 9-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Verlander now has earned wins with four different organizations (Detroit, Houston, New York and San Fran) and is just 14 strikeouts away from becoming just the 10th player in MLB history to reach 3,500 career K’s.

🔼 It’s a Kid’s World. We do it for the kids, right?

That’s what ODU will be doing this fall as the Monarchs announced late last week that all kids under the age of 12 years old will get in free to general admission areas for the upcoming soccer and volleyball matches during the 2025 season.
