🔼 And We’re Off. Facing off against a team in #19 Georgetown that allowed just 10 goals all of last season, the ODU women’s soccer team flexed its muscle, earning a hard-fought 2-2 draw against the nationally-ranked Hoyas.

Captain Gry Boe Thrysøe played a huge part in the Monarchs’ success, firing the equalizer into the bottom left corner of the net in the 87th minute of action. Freshman forward Ashley Economopoulos found the native of Klarup, Denmark with superb hold up play in the middle of the pitch. The captain connected for the volley goal, sending the Monarch bench into a frenzy.

“Georgetown is a Top 25 program and I thought we went toe to toe with them for 90 minutes,” said ODU Head Coach Angie Hind. “The intensity of the game never let up all night and I was so impressed by our ability to match that, defend in periods when we were under pressure, but also get at them in moments we had momentum.”

🔼 I Believe They Can Fly. Decades later, Space Jam was right… they really can fly.

After starting their Costa Rica trip 2-0 on the court, the ODU men’s basketball team took things to new heights, literally.

The Monarchs hit the tree tops for some zip lining on Wednesday and a little ATV excursion on Thursday.

🔼 Making The List. Before even hitting the field last night for the Monarchs, ODU star defender Ashlynn Kulha had already earned national recognition.

On Thursday afternoon, Kulha was named to the 2025 Hermann Trophy Watch List. The award is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation’s highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year.

The native of Holly Springs, North Carolina piles on the accolades after she was recently named to the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Top 100 Players List (63), Sun Belt Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, and the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team. Last season, she earned First Team All-Sun Belt honors and is the reigning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year.

The Lady Monarchs attended Tuesday night’s game against the NY Liberty and saw the Sparks honor their head coach with a video and a rousing applause from the hometown crowd.

At the conclusion of the game, Milton-Jones spent time outside Crypto.com Arena with Sparks fans signing autographs and taking pictures with a number of fans who were all thankful for her time spent in Los Angeles which included back-to-back WNBA Championships (2001,2002).

⏱️ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 1️⃣5️⃣ DAYS

In honor of the 15 days until ODU football season….

The 2009 ODU football defense was a takeaway machine.

The first Monarch football squad in over 65 years returned to the gridiron with a tenacious defensive unit that hauled in 1️⃣5️⃣ INTs AND 1️⃣5️⃣ fumble recoveries.

Both of those single-season marks are still tied for program records to this day.
