🔼 Grand Opening. Plenty of new faces on the ODU men’s soccer squad introduced themselves to the home crowd in grand fashion on Thursday night as the Monarchs picked up a W in the season opener, defeating visiting George Washington, 2-0.

In a defensive battle, Bowling Green transfer Jake Lane fired home the game’s first goal in the 78th minute, followed 10 minutes later with the game-sealing goal in the 88th minute.

Michael Statham tallied the shutout in goal, picking up four saves on the night.

It’s tough to find a player in Major League Baseball swinging a hotter stick than former ODU standout Vinnie Pasquantino. In the past seven games, he’s hitting .333 with four HRs and 10 RBIs for the Kansas City Royals.

The Royals are now just two games out of a Wild Card spot in the American League playoff picture, thanks in part to Pasquantino, who now ranks second in RBIs (87) and third in HRs (26) among all MLB first baseman.

In honor of the eight days until ODU football season….

One of the many new faces on this year’s ODU football roster will
be wearing #8️⃣ in defensive back Botros Alisandro.

Alisandro spent the past two seasons at Purdue, where he played in 23 games,
tallying 57 tackles, five pass break-ups and one INT.
