🔼 Opening Acts. A busy weekend is in store for ODU Athletics, with plenty of opportunities for Monarch fans to check out some action.

ODU volleyball opens its season by hosting the Quest for the Crown at the ODU Volleyball Center, facing USC Upstate and St. John’s on Friday before closing the tournament against Elon on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, the men’s soccer team looks to keep its hot start rolling when the 2-0 Monarchs host Lehigh Friday night at 7 p.m.

On the road, ODU field hockey begins its 2026 campaign with a challenging weekend in Columbus, Ohio. The Monarchs open against host Ohio State Friday at 4 p.m. before returning to Buckeye Varsity Field Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. matchup with Bellarmine.

🔼 Making The List. The resume of ODU women’s soccer star Ashlynn Kulha continues to get longer and longer.

This week, Kulha was named to the Hermann Trophy NCAA Division I Watch List.

The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation’s highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year.

Kulha was the first-ever Sun Belt women’s soccer player to earn back-to-back Sun Belt Defender of the Year awards this past season. She has now been awarded Sun Belt Preseason Defender of the Year in back-to-back seasons and was named to the Sun Belt Preseason Team. She also was selected to the All-Southeast Regional Team by the United Soccer Coaches.

🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 8️⃣ DAYS TIL KICKOFF

There are plenty of new, exciting faces on this year’s ODU Football roster, including #8️⃣ Greg Johnson.

Johnson arrives in Norfolk with two years of eligibility left after spending two seasons at Navy and a year at Garden City Community College.

The 5-10, 190-pound hard-hitting safety racked up 65 tackles and five INTs last season and looks to make an immediate impact for the Monarchs this fall.
