🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 5️⃣ DAYS TIL KICKOFF

Since arriving in Norfolk in 2024, Brandon Crutchfield has steadily developed into an important piece of Old Dominion’s defensive backfield.
The Wake Forest, N.C., native saw action in eight games as a freshman, contributing at cornerback and on special teams while recording five tackles. His role expanded significantly in 2025, when he played in all 13 games and earned four starts at cornerback.
Crutchfield enjoyed a breakout sophomore season with 35 tackles, two interceptions and a team-high-tying six pass breakups. He recorded his first career interception against North Carolina Central, added another in ODU’s Cure Bowl victory over South Florida and also forced a fumble on the opening kickoff against James Madison that was returned for a touchdown.

🔼 Game Week. The wait is almost over. Game week has final arrived.
This Saturday, ODU Football kicks off the 2026 season with a local showdown as Norfolk State rolls into Ballard Stadium for a 6 p.m. showdown.
The Monarchs will look to continue the momentum from last year after posting 10 wins and securing the second bowl game victory in program history.
While ODU returns plenty of talent, there will also be many new faces to check out for Monarchs fans with 54 newcomers on this fall’s roster.

🔼 You See Me Rollin’. For the first time since 2012, the ODU men’s soccer team is 3-0 to start a season after taking down Lehigh, 2-0, on Friday night.

⚽️ The Full Recap

🔼 Grand Opening. Who doesn’t love a little post win ice cream?
The ODU Field Hockey got a double dose of ice cream this past weekend, kicking off the 2026 season in style with wins over Ohio State (3-2) and Bellarmine (7-0).
The victory over Ohio State marked the first ODU win over the Buckeyes since 2011.
🔼 Leading The Pack. When ODU takes the field this Saturday, four Monarchs will be wearing the “C” on their chest.
Late last week, ODU announced that the four team captains in 2026 will be safety Mario Easterly, linebacker Koa Naotala, quarterback Quinn Henicle and center Brayden Walker.
The group was selected by a vote of their teammates and represents a mix of established ODU veterans and new leadership.
🎥 MONARCHS+: THE RISE OF THE PRIDE
The offseason started as soon as the final buzzer sounded last year for the ODU men's basketball program. Go behind the scenes as the Monarchs went to work rebuilding their roster, team chemistry and much more in the first episode in our "Rise Of The Pride" series.
