🔼 Thank You, 42. Since he was 10 years old, and a budding star in his youth community league in Dingmans Ferry, Pa., Jason Henderson has been known as a football player.
Of course, he was and remains a good student and a good person, a loving son and loyal friend. But for many student-athletes, especially star athletes, your sport can become an oversized part of your life.
Which is why Henderson’s announcement Sunday on social media that he was stepping away from football was so painful, and at the same time, courageous.
After sustaining a serious knee injury just prior to Old Dominion’s 2023 bowl game, the two-time All-American linebacker could never quite come back. And so, after playing one game this season, he decided it was best for everyone that he give up football.
🔼 Pair To Praise. Coming off a dominant win over the weekend, the ODU football program grabbed not one, but ✌️ Sun Belt Conference weekly honors.
Trequan Jones and Tre’ Brown were both honored. Jones was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Brown was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Jones had five carries for 163 yards and three touchdowns to help lead ODU to a 54-6 win over North Carolina Central. Brown made a pair of big special teams plays on Saturday for the Monarchs. After NCCU was stopped on its second possession, the NCCU punter dropped the snapped and picked it up the ball but was drilled by Brown in the end zone for a safety to give ODU a 2-0 lead. Later in the game, Brown came through again to block an NCCU punt and set up an ODU touchdown. He finished the game with a TFL and a blocked punt.

🔼 Hunting October. With just a few weeks left in the 2025 MLB season, the ODU baseball program has its fingerprints all over the playoff race.
Ryan Yarbrough (Yankees), Jared Young (Mets) and Jared Koenig (Brewers) all are currently in position to reach the postseason with their squads, while Justin Verlander (Giants), Vinnie Pasquantino (Royals) and Matt Quatraro (Royals) both sit just three games out of a playoff spot with less than 20 games remaining.
