🔼 STATment Made. Playing on a big stage, on Saturday night on national TV, ODU sent a message loud and clear through a dominating performance at Lane Stadium.

Buoyed by yet another stellar performance from quarterback Colton Joseph, the Monarchs rolled to a 28-0 first-half lead and coasted past the Hokies, 45-26. 

It was ODU’s third victory against Virginia Tech in a seven-game series that dates back to 2018, but the first ever in Blacksburg. Prior to Saturday, the Monarchs had never led Tech in Blacksburg. ODU’s 49-35 victory over then No. 13 Virginia Tech in 2018 at old Foreman Field almost surely remains the biggest win in school history. But this was ODU’s first road victory against a Power 4 school and was seen by a nationwide audience on the ACC Network.

🔼 Good To Be Home. The ODU volleyball team made their first return home since opening weekend, earning a split, highlighted by a 3-0 sweep of Delaware on Friday night.

In the win over the Blue Hens, Bryanna Jones and Elisa Maggi paced ODU’s attack with 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Wiktoria Zagumny recorded a 33-assist, 10-dig double-double, and Kate Kilpatrick finished with team highs of 13 digs and three aces.

🔼 Just In Time. Junior forward Lewis Rourke found the back of the net in the 78th minute on Friday night to give the ODU men’s soccer team a gutty 1-0 victory at previously unbeaten UMBC.

Rourke got himself on the end of a broken play after a long pass fell at his feet from Marcelo Randolf, the native of Nottingham, England was able to capitalize on the Retrievers mental lapse by finding the far left side of the net to give ODU the game’s only goal.
