📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Pitch Perfect. The streak continues for ODU men’s soccer.
On Monday, the Monarchs moved to a perfect 7-0 this season with a dramatic, 2-1, road win over in-state rival VCU.
ODU got on the board early with a goal just five minutes. The Rams tied it up, but with just a few minutes left before halftime, the Monarchs responded with their second goal of the day to regain the lead.
That’s all ODU keeper Alexander Aguilar needed as he was spectacular in net, tallying a career-high five saves in the victory.
🔼 Movin’ On Up. With both the men’s soccer and field hockey programs scoring dramatic road victories, the Monarchs are on the move up the national rankings.
After both securing spots in the top-25 last week, the men’s soccer jumped all the way up to #13 in the latest poll, while the field hockey squad jumped five spots to #15 after taking down #5 North Carolina in Chapel Hill last weekend.
🔼 Power Pair. When you lock down a win on the road over a top-five opponent, you’re going to collect some accolades and that’s exactly what ODU field hockey did this week.
ODU forward Sofia Marciano and defender Serena Langendoen were named BIG EAST Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.
The duo was instrumental in ODU’s top five win over North Carolina, a 5-4 overtime win that saw the Monarchs come back from deficits of 3-0 and 4-1.
🔼 Helping Hands. In the pool isn’t the only place Lilly Cleal is doing work for the Monarchs.
This week, the fourth-year member of the ODU swim program was named to the All-Sun Belt Community Service Team.
The All-Sun Belt Community Service Team is an initiative aimed to recognize one student-athlete from each Sun Belt institution who has shown outstanding dedication to community service.
Cleal contributed over 1,000 service hours at hospitals in the 757 area. She shows a level of commitment that reflects both her passion for nuclear medicine and her deep dedication to serving the Norfolk community.
