🔼 More Than A Uni. ODU Football will open the 2026 season with a powerful tribute to Lt. Col. Brandon A. Shah, honoring his service, legacy and connection to the Monarch community when the Monarchs host Norfolk State on Saturday.
The Monarchs will take the field in special Under Armour camouflage jerseys created specifically for the season opener. In a tribute that puts the focus squarely on Lt. Col. Shah, every jersey will feature “LTC Shah” on the back in place of individual player names.

🔼 Three More Sleeps. The wait is almost over. We are just three days away!
This Saturday, ODU Football kicks off the 2026 season with a local showdown as Norfolk State rolls into Ballard Stadium for a 6 p.m. showdown.
The Monarchs will look to continue the momentum from last year after posting 10 wins and securing the second bowl game victory in program history.
While ODU returns plenty of talent, there will also be many new faces to check out for Monarchs fans with 54 newcomers on this fall’s roster.
🔼 Talkin’ Ball. Prior to Saturday’s kickoff against Norfolk State, ODU head coach Ricky Rahne stepped behind the mics and preview this weekend’s season-opener.
🔼 Connect Four. For the first time since 2012, the ODU men’s soccer team is 3-0 and tonight, the Monarchs are looking for number 4️⃣.
The Monarchs’ have showed off their offense potential through the first three games of the year, scoring 10 goals and ranking in the top-10 nationally with 3.33 goals per game.
Tonight, ODU welcomes in-state foe, Radford, to town for a 6 p.m. showdown at the ODU Soccer Complex
🔼 Sweepin’ Up. The ODU Volleyball squad picked up its second win of the season on Tuesday night in dominant fashion, sweeping their way past in-state foe, Norfolk State, to the tune of 3-0.
Leilani Lawrence was the lone Monarch to finish with double-digit kills, tallying 11 in the win. Elisa Maggi and Rita Benidio followed with eight kills each, and Erica Duffy ended up with 24 assists. Five different Monarchs served multiple aces, led by Benidio with three.
🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 3️⃣ DAYS TIL KICKOFF

Donning the #3️⃣ jersey will be two critical members of this year’s ODU Football team in Mario Easterly and Devin Roche.
Today, we’ll focus on Roche who has steadily developed into one of Old Dominion’s top offensive weapons since arriving in Norfolk in 2023. Through his first three seasons, Roche has accumulated 1,086 rushing yards and six touchdowns, while averaging 5.8 yards per carry.
Last year was Roche’s breakout campaign after taking over the starting job during the second half of the season and rushed for 630 yards and four touchdowns. He posted three 100-yard games over that span.
Entering his redshirt junior season this fall, Roche earned preseason All-Sun Belt honors and was named to the Doak Walker Award watch list.
