🔼 Night, Knights. And the streak continues.

After spending the past two weeks on the road, the ODU volleyball team was happy to be back on their home court on Thursday and it showed!

The Monarchs rolled to a dominating 3-0 sweep of Rutgers to improve their school record start to 9-2 on the year. With the victory, ODU has now won six straight matches, the longest win streak in program history.

Hailee Blankenship and Myah Conway scored 11 kills each to pace the ODU attack, with Elisa Maggi close behind at nine kills. Elisabeth Levick and Ashlynn Belcher finished the night with 16 and 13 assists, respectively, and Maggi served a team-high three aces. Kate Kilpatrick turned in a 15-dig performance and Maggi also reached double-digit digs with 10.

🔼 KC Connection. With just nine games remaining in the MLB season, not many predicted the Kansas City Royals to be in the hunt for a playoff spot.

In just his second year at the helm of the Royals, ODU alum Matt Quatraro has Kansas City currently sitting as one of the three American League Wild Card teams.

Just a year after suffering 106 losses, Quatraro has helped guide a young, talented group to among the best teams in the AL. With the turnaround, the former Monarch is in discussion for the AL Manager of the Year Award.

🔼 Home Sweet Home. You need some Monarchs in your life? We got you covered!

In the next 48 hours, the Monarchs are set to host five home games right here in Norfolk.

The 19th-ranked field hockey team host a top-20 showdown on this afternoon when 11th-ranked Liberty comes to town for a BIG EAST matchup.

Both soccer squads open up Sun Belt Conference this weekend with women’s soccer hosting Coastal Carolina tonight (7 pm) and men’s soccer welcoming West Virginia on Saturday (7 pm).

The volleyball squad continues their battle at the ODU Invitational with a battle against Radford tonight (6 pm) and UMES on Saturday (4 pm).

🔼 Mike, Mike, Mike. When you score two game-winning goals in the same week, you’re bound to earn some recognition.

That’s exactly what junior forward Michael Eberle did last week and for that performance, he earned Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week accolades.

The native of Dumfries, Virginia played a big role in a pair of ODU wins on the week as he scored two game-winning goals to lead the Monarchs to a pair of home wins of in-state rivals.

His three goals and one assist through seven matches equals his total of 2023.
