🦁 THE WELCOMING PARTY
On Friday, ODU President Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D. officially welcome Tim House, one of the top collegiate athletics leaders and fundraisers in the country, as the sixth Director of Athletics in school history. House, whose appointment is effective January 1, 2027, comes to ODU from Michigan State.
At Michigan State, the Spartan Athletics Foundation reported directly to House, who led a comprehensive advancement strategy, driving philanthropic growth and donor engagement.
Prior to his time at MSU, House spent seven years with Purdue, culminating in his promotion to Deputy Athletics Director and Associate Vice President for Development in 2025.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Grand Opening. Winners of two of the past four Sun Belt titles, the ODU women’s soccer team got conference play started on the right foot.
The Monarchs got a goal in the 33rd minute from first-year standout Reese Kulha, off an assist by Alaina Subong to come away with 1-0 road victory over ULM on Friday night.
Preseason All-American Ashlynn Kulha led a stifling defensive effort from the Monarchs, which limited the Warhawks to just one shot in the contest, including none in the second half.
🔼 Sunday Funday. The 15th-ranked ODU field hockey squad grinded out a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Delaware on Sunday afternoon at L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
Playing at home for just the second time this fall, the Monarchs got goals from Sofia Marciano, Serena Langendoen, Autumn Busby and Madison Zalewski in the victory.
Alexa Murphy collected six saves with two goals allowed in her first collegiate win as a starter.
🔼 Pleading The Fifth. Lucia Gonzalez, Puneet Bajwa, and Barbara Car all finished under par as Old Dominion Women’s Golf placed fifth at the Lady Paladin Invitational this weekend at the Furman University Golf Club.
Gonzalez was the top performer for ODU, tying for eighth with a five-under 211. The fourth year from Monterrey, Mexico entered Sunday’s final round tied for 12th at one-under. She saved her best for last though, making seven birdies with a four-under 68 for her final lap around the course.
🔼 Court Is In Session. The ODU women’s tennis team opened up its fall season at the annual fall Tribe Invitational at William & Mary earlier this month.
The Monarchs brought home a pair of titles at the event.
Uladzislava Manzhos went 3-0 in the Gold Singles Draw to bring home the victory in singles action and followed it up with a doubles title with Mya Byrd, going 3-0 in the Coastal Doubles Draw.
