🦁 HALL OF A WEEK ON TAP
This weekend, ODU Athletics will officially enshrine five Monarch legends into the ODU Sports Hall of Fame.
This year’s class includes Maggie Simmermacher (Women’s Golf), Tim Hopkinson (Men’s Soccer), Sarah Breen (Field Hockey), Taylor Heinicke (Football), and Daniel Hudson (Baseball).
The five Monarch legends will be inducted during the Jeff & Billye Chernitzer Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner, which is scheduled for Friday night in Chartway Arena.

🔼 Tribal Takedown. On a wet, sloppy Tuesday night at the ODU Soccer Complex, the 15th-ranked ODU men’s soccer team grinded out a hard-fought 2-1 victory over in-state foe and longtime rival, William & Mary.
The Monarchs put the pressure on the Tribe all night long, outshooting William & Mary, 17-4, on the night. Both goals for ODU came via penalty kicks off the foot off Alessandro Maldonado.
ODU returns to Sun Belt play this weekend when they head to Statesboro to square off with Georgia Southern on Sunday evening.
🔼 Rivalry Week. This one needs no introduction for Monarchs fan. It’s JMU week.
ODU returns home to open Sun Belt Conference play against longtime foe and undefeated JMU in the annual TowneBank Royal Rivalry game on Saturday night at Ballard Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Saturday on ESPN+.
🔼 The Show Stopper. After earning her second shutout of the season, ODU’s fourth year goalkeeper, Ellie Goodrich was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week.
Goodrich played a full 90 minutes in goal for the Monarchs, earning her eighth career shutout as the ODU’s netminder.
The Alexandria, Va., native has played six games in goal and made four starts. She has made 13 saves and has a save percentage of 72.2%.
🦁 A NEW ERA
Last week, ODU President Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D. officially welcomed Tim House, one of the top collegiate athletics leaders and fundraisers in the country, as the sixth Director of Athletics in school history. House, whose appointment is effective January 1, 2027, comes to ODU from Michigan State.
At Michigan State, the Spartan Athletics Foundation reported directly to House, who led a comprehensive advancement strategy, driving philanthropic growth and donor engagement.
Prior to his time at MSU, House spent seven years with Purdue, culminating in his promotion to Deputy Athletics Director and Associate Vice President for Development in 2025.
