🛣 ON THE ROAD AGAIN

After spending a week grinding on the practice field, the ODU football team
is back on the road this weekend another a huge task in front of them
with a talented Bowling Green squad on tap this weekend in Ohio.

The Monarchs continually find themselves in dog fights with 14 of their past
17 games being decided by one score or less, including two of three games this season.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Getting Defensive. The Lady Monarchs women’s soccer team went back to old reliable on Thursday night at the ODU Soccer Complex.

ODU used a stifling defensive effort to limited visiting ULM to just four shots on the entire night as the Monarchs picked a critical 1-0 victory in Sun Belt action.

After an even first half, ODU (6-3-1, 1-0-1) was the beneficiary of a fortuitous bounce nearly 18 minutes into the second half. In the 63rd minutes, Katie Lutz served one into the box, aiming for Yuliia Khrystiuk, and found the foot of a ULM defender before it landed in the back of the net for the game’s only goal.

🔼 Carolina Crusin’. With one last season at ODU underway, Sofia Johnson of the ODU women’s tennis is making it count.

After starting the fall season ranked in the top-40 nationally, Johnson earned back-to-back straight set victories at the ITA All-American Fall Championships and now sits in the Sweet 16 of the event in Cary, N.C.

She opened the tournament with a victory over 13th-seeded Julia Garcia of Oklahoma and took down USC’s top player on Thursday morning.

🔼 Add Another Line To The Resume. As all of the ODU faithful know, Jason Henderson belongs in the same breath with the country’s best.

The award recognizes an individual as the absolute best in the country for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.

A native of Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania, Henderson is a two-time All-American and two-time first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honoree. He has led the country in tackles per game each of the last two seasons and in 2022, set the ODU and Sun Belt records for tackles in a season with 186.

🏀 HOOP DREAMS

The time has come.

After months and months of waiting, ODU hoops is OFFICIALLY back on the court.

This week, both the Monarchs basketball teams kicked off their official start to practice for the upcoming 2024-25 season, which gets underway in about six weeks.
