We’ve got all the details on the big win, plus plenty of Monarchs got some hardware this week.

🔼 (Dialing) Deep (For) Six. Long range shooting from a potent pair of Monarchs led to more history for the ODU women’s basketball team on Thursday night.

A combined Six 3-pointers from Jordan McLaughlin and En’Dya Buford led ODU to its first road victory of the season with a hard-fought 72-66 defeat of William & Mary to improve to 6-0.

The 6-0 start is the best since 1997-98, a season that featured with a conference championship, Sweet 16 appearances and a No.2 ranking in the AP Poll.

McLaughlin had a career night at the perfect time, finishing with a career-high 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including 3-for-5 from long range. She also added five assists, two rebounds and a steal. Buford followed close behind with 18 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal.

ODU forced the Tribe in 18 turnovers and just 2-of-17 from beyond the arc, a place where W&M had been averaging nearly five per game.

🔼 Can I Get A Half A Dozen, Please? As ODU awaits their bowl game fate, six Monarchs earned another mantle piece for their future homes.

Linebacker Jason Henderson earned first-team and linebacker Wayne Matthews III earned third-team, while safeties Terry Jones and Shawn Asbury, cornerback LaMareon James and defensive tackle Denzel Lowry received honorable mention honors.

🔼 Local Legend. After spending two years at Wichita State, Chaunce Jenkins returned home and wanted to build a legacy here at ODU.

After just over a year, Jenkins is doing that and then home and that legend continues to grow as the junior guard poured in 20 points to help the Monarchs to a 69-68 thriller over visiting Radford on Wednesday night.

In addition to another 20-point outing, Jenkins dished out five assists, blocked four shots and grabbed two steals. He might have swept the floors and taken out the trash too for all we know.

He and the Monarchs won their second game in four days and now hit the road for back-to-back showdowns with former conference rivals.

Freshman Vasean Allete added to his strong debut season with 14 points, six rebounds and two assists.

🔼 A Pair To Praise. It was no secret that leading a historic season on the pitch was the defensive unit of the ODU women’s soccer team.

Two critical pieces of that effort were captain Ece Turkoglu and junior keeper Emily Bredek, who had a breakout season for the Monarchs.

The duo were honored for their outstanding performances this week with spots on the All-Southeast Region squads. Turkoglu earned a spot on the First Team, while Bredek was a member of the second team.

🎳 LET’S GO BOWLING

Our Monarchs are going bowling for the second time in three seasons.

The destination? That will be determined and announced on the ESPN Bowl Presentation Show on Sunday, Dec. 3rd at 12 p.m.

🤔 MONARCH TRIVIA

Behind Chaunce Jenkins’ 20-point outing against Radford on Wednesday night, the Monarchs claimed a 69-68 win.

It was Jenkins’ third 20+ point outing in six games this season.

In his 61 collegiate games, how many times has the Newport News native scored 20 or more points?
