The ODU defense is stocked full of young talent,
which includes redshirt sophomore Mario Easterly.

The former All-State product out of Harrisburg, Pa. has played in 17 games over the past two seasons, including all 14 last fall for the Monarchs.

He’s seen time in both the defensive backfield and on special teams, racking up 16 tackles and a fumble recovery. This fall, he’s ready for a breakout party.

🔼 Three’s Company. The ODU football squad isn’t the only program opening up its 2024 season this weekend as the reigning BIG EAST Champion field hockey team is set to kick things off.

Before the Lady Monarchs step on the field this Friday at Richmond, a trio of student-athletes were honored with spots on the Preseason All-BIG EAST squads.

Suus Broers, Kerry McCormick and Frederique Zandbergen were all recognized while ODU was picked to second in the league standings.

The ODU Swimming programs announced their 2024-25 slates this week, highlighted by a trio of home meets in Norfolk.

🔼 Watch Out World. It was a tall task as a young, up-and-coming star.

Not only was she taking on the 20th-ranked player at the US Open, but it was a former world #1 and a long time tennis pro.

Former ODU star Yuliia Starodubtseva didn’t back down though, taking three-time US Open finalist Victoria Azarenka to three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 before falling in Monday’s opening round.

Starodubtseva has now played in the main draw at all four Grand Slam events this year.

It’s a night made for legends.

September 6, 2024, the annual induction ceremony for the ODU Athletics Hall of Fame open to the public.

This year’s class includes five new members, Trey Freeman (Men’s Basketball), Christy Longacre (Field Hockey), Jonathan Plisco (Football), Evan Newton (Men’s Soccer) and Marty Bradley (Athletic Training).
