Monarchs Searching For Hardware This Weekend On The Courts

TGIF ODU Fam. You know those trips you go on and you always end up coming back with more than you packed?

Well, the ODU men’s tennis team is hoping to do just that this weekend during their stay at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Rome that kick off today for the Monarchs.

🔼 Tourney Time. Nothing like it.

That’s right. There’s just another level of intensity when it comes to conference tournament time and that’s exactly what the ODU men’s tennis squad enters this weekend at the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Rome, Ga.

The Monarchs, who earned a share of the league regular season title with Georgia Southern, is the second seed and battles Southern Miss in today’s quarterfinals at 2 pm.

🔼 Award Winning. It’s been another great year for the Monarchs and this week, the family got together to celebrate their successes at the annual Golden Monarch Awards.

Awards were given out for Athlete of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Championship Effort Award, Scholar-Athlete, Spark Plug, Community Service, Comeback, Mr. and Ms. Monarch and the Monarch Cup.

🔼 Kuntz Catch Up. There’s nothing like acting your childhood dreams.

Zack Kuntz was able to do that this past year as the former Monarch finished up his first season with the New York Jets.

The ODU standout was back in Norfolk this past weekend to enjoy the annual Spring Game and the Monarch radio crew was able to catch up with Kuntz to talk about his rookie season in the NFL.

👏 WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT

On the final play of this year’s Charity Bowl Spring Game this past Saturday, nine-year old Ashton Donley scored a nine-yard touchdown. Donley, who has autism, is a participant in the Eliza Hope Foundation.

The Chartway Promise Foundation, the charitable arm of Chartway Credit Union awarded $1 million in grants this year to charity partners including the Eliza Hope Foundation.

The Eliza Hope Foundation and therapy center is a place for children with an autism diagnosis to receive all their therapeutic needs in one unique place.
