🔼 The First Of Many. Welp, that’s one way to start a new era of ODU men’s soccer.

Less than seven minutes into the first game of the Tennant McVea era, the Monarchs found the back of the net and it was only a sign of things to come as ODU powered their way to a decisive 4-2 road win at George Washington in the season opener on Thursday afternoon.

Timothy Ennin scored the first goals of each half, while Key White and Noah Madgrial each scored a goal apiece for ODU.

🔼 Road Closed. Emily Bredek wouldn’t be born for another eight years when the famous Soup Nazi made his TV debut.

Bredek has taken his slogan, “No Soup For You”, to heart though as the stonewall in goal for ODU’s women’s soccer team denied William & Mary on Thursday night for her first clean sheet of the season and 15th of her career en route to a 2-0 Monarchs victory.

Her nine saves were a season-high and held up the defensive end after ODU’s offense got started quick with two goals in the first eight minutes

🔼 O Captain, My Captain. We are just over a week away from kickoff and this week, the ODU football squad announced a high character, veteran group of leaders for the upcoming fall.

Leading the Monarchs as captains this season are Grant Wilson, Denzel Lowry, Koa Naotala, Jason Henderson, Santana Saunders and Seamus Hall.

🔼 Book Your Calendars. Earlier this week, the reigning conference champs, the ODU women’s tennis squad released their fall dates.

Now, the reigning champs on the men’s side have their busy fall slate, which includes four traditional events, as well as ITA Fall Regionals.

🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 8 DAYS

One of those captains for the upcoming season is our own #8, Denzel Lowry.

Lowry earned Sun Belt All-Conference Honorable Mention accolades last fall after starting all 13 games on the defensive line for the Monarchs. He led all ODU d-lineman with 46 tackles, five TFLs and three sacks.

The redshirt junior has 85 career tackles, 10 TFLs and seven career sacks.

🦁 A NIGHT FOR LEGENDS

It’s a night made for legends.

September 6, 2024, the annual induction ceremony for the ODU Athletics Hall of Fame open to the public.

This year’s class includes five new members, Trey Freeman (Men’s Basketball), Christy Longacre (Field Hockey), Jonathan Plisco (Football), Evan Newton (Men’s Soccer) and Marty Bradley (Athletic Training).
