🔼 Brenda, Brenda, Brenda! Junior Brenda Fontana picked a perfect time for a breakout game.

The Moreno, Argentina native poured in a career-high 19 points to lead the ODU women’s squad to a crucial 68-62 win over Southern Miss on Saturday afternoon at Chartway Arena.

ODU jumped out to a huge first half lead, but had to fight off a second half rally from the Golden Eagles to grind out the victory.

🔼 Class Acts. The ODU football team had another memorable season on the gridiron this fall.

That success wasn’t contained to just the field as five Monarchs were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team late last week.

Mario Easterly, Elijah Hoskin, Jalen Satchell, Grant Wilson and Maarten Woudsma were all recognized with the honors.

🔼 Ready To Roar. The calendar has turned and the Monarchs are ready to roar.

This week, two more squads open up the 2024 portion of their schedules with the swimming squads battle William & Mary and East Carolina in a dual meet on Saturday, while the women’s tennis team heads to the Sunshine State to battle Florida Atlantic on Sunday.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Southern Miss.

That’s right, apparently, Fontana just likes playing against the Golden Eagles.

Her previous career high of 13 was on Feb. 19, 2022 in a 86-79 overtime win with UTEP over Southern Miss.

🦁 Let’s have a great week, y’all!
