🏈 HOMECOMING WEEK

🔼 Home Sweet Home. Old friends, new friends, all sporting the same Blue and Gray!

There’s nothing like homecoming week on college campuses. The gatherings, the stories, the memories made.

ODU is back at Ballard for the third straight Saturday and will be the last time at home until Oct. 21st. Don’t miss out and join the party this weekend in Norfolk!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Honoring A Legend. Sure, there’s been wins.

Sure, there’s been championships.

Sure, there’s been plenty of success stories far beyond the pitch with the hundreds of student-athletes he’s impacted.

But Coach Alan Dawson’s story is far more than just coaching. The road that led him to ODU and roaming for the Monarch sidelines for the past few decades is one of resilience, determination and character.

This Max with Minium piece is one that is a MUST read for all ODU fans.

🔼 Magnificent Myah. The reigning Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week is already putting her name in for next week’s honor as well.

Myah Conway continued her hot streak, reeling off 19 kills, in ODU’s big 3-1 road win over Marshall in the conference opener for both squads. It’s the fifth win in the past six matches for the Monarchs.

For the fifth time in the past six matches, senior Teresa Atilano dished out 40+ assist, this time connecting on 46 to go along with 12 digs for a second straight double-double.

🔼 Inspired by a Legend. This weekend, the ODU football squad and Homecoming will have a new, retro look to it.

Earlier this summer, the Monarchs unveiled these new retro helmets and a look honoring ODU’s history.

Where did the idea come from? How did it all come together?

🔼 Protect This House. Throw on the poncho. Grab an umbrella. Our squad needs you!

For the fifth time in the first eight games of the season, the ODU field hockey team is taking on yet another ranked opponent, this time a BIG EAST showdown with the 19th-ranked Temple Owls, right here in Norfolk.

Three of the previous four matchups with ranked opponents this year have been one-goal games as the Monarchs continue they can play with anyone in the country.

2 p.m. today. Be there.

🔼 Streak Snapped. ODU’s record-tying eight game unbeaten streak to start a season came to a tough, tough end on Thursday night.

The Monarchs fired off 21 shots and forced the visiting Louisiana defense into 12 saves, but couldn’t break through as the Ragin’ Cajuns pulled out the 1-0 victory in the conference home opener.

👕 BLUE OUT TO BEAT PROSTATE CANCER

Tomorrow, the SURF Foundation hosts the “Blue Out to Beat Prostate Cancer” presented by Sentara and Urology of Virginia. The SURF Foundation reminds you that early detection saves lives. One in eight American men will get some form of prostate cancer, and the earlier it's identified, the better the rates of survival.

We're honoring those survivors and asking you to please—get screened.
