🔼 Showtime! The title defense starts NOW!

ODU women’s tennis kicks off play at the 2024 Sun Belt Tournament today when they take the courts against Georgia State at 10 am this morning in Rome, Ga.

Earlier this week, the Lady Monarchs swept the major awards after going undefeated once again through conference play this spring.

🔼 All Eyez On Him. With a little over a month left in the season, one of ODU’s best hurlers has eyes on him.

This week, the Monarchs senior southpaw Jacob Gomez was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's 19th annual Stopper of the Year Award Midseason Watch List.

A Rutherford, New Jersey native, Gomez is 1-1 with a 1.83 ERA through 11 appearances and one start for the Monarchs this season. He is tied for the national lead in multi-inning saves (7) and is also 12th in the country in total saves (7). He's held opposing batters to a .178 batting average against him.

🔼 Flashback Friday. It may be 20 years later, but the game is still talked about.

It was a Friday night in April 2004. There was a record number of scouts piled behind home plate to watch one of the most anticipated college baseball games in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Two of the top arms, not just in Virginia, but the entire country, squaring off at the Bud. ODU’s Justin Verlander vs. VCU’s Justin Orenduff.

It’s a duel that the two old friends still remember fondly and have built a lifetime friendship around.

🎥 A TOKEN OF APPRECIATION

Recently, two of ODU’s own took some time to share their appreciation with the Old Dominion Athletic Foundation and it’s supporters.

Football’s Messiah deWeaver and Women’s Soccer’s Yuliia Khrystiuk shared their stories, journeys and what the ODU experience has meant to them.
